Acceptable Use Policy

The rules

This policy is part of the Terms of Service. It is short because the list is short.

Do not put secrets in a Question. No credentials, API keys, private keys, passwords or access tokens — in the Question body, the context, or an attachment. Questions are shared with every member of the project and are retained in the record. If a secret is exposed this way, rotate it; we cannot un-share it.

Do not upload unlawful or infringing content, or content you do not have the right to share with the people on that project. Remember that inviting someone from another organisation shares that project's Questions with them.

Do not scrape the record. The search and export functions are for your own use. Do not use automated means to extract another organisation's content, or to bulk-extract your own beyond the export the product provides.

Do not attempt to reach content outside your projects, probe the service for vulnerabilities without our written agreement, or interfere with its operation.

Service accounts follow the same rules as the person who created them. A service account or API key does not get its own permissions or its own latitude, and it does not exist to work around plan limits.

Do not use Askance to harass anyone, including the experts who answer your Questions. Experts choose the topics they are asked about and may decline.

Reporting and enforcement

Report abuse to legal@askance.app.

We will normally tell you and give you the chance to fix a problem before suspending an account. Where the breach is serious — exposing others' data, unlawful content, an attack on the service — we may act immediately.
